3 things I wish I knew (Before I started YouTube in 2012)
Back then, I thought longer videos = boring videos.
Turns out I was wrong about everything.
After analyzing 500+ videos across my channels…

1) 8-min+ videos outperformed 4-min ones 97% of the time
I can give a million reasons why I BELIEVE this to be the case.
But I care about TRUTH, so I will just mention the fact on this one.
The main reason? They heavily favor the “ABSOLUTE amount of WATCH HOURS” from your video.
They don’t care about your AVD% as much.
They want to serve more ADS.
2) Longer videos get you 1k subs faster
I only got 499 subscribers from a video with 81k views.
That’s ONLY a sub ratio of 0.61%.
The video was 4 minutes.
But a recent 8-minute video got me a sub ratio of 2.27%…
Which means you don’t need 250k views to get to 1,000 subs.
But only 50k views to get MONETIZED.
3) The faster the value, the higher the sub ratio
So the shorter the intro, the better.
If you currently start with your first point at 30 seconds, try talking faster, removing fluff and move the first point of value to 15 seconds, because 50-30% stopped watching after 30 seconds.
They will never hear your BEST thing.
WHILE giving them your BEST stuff can make them STAY (AND SUBSCRIBE)!
This is the truth ✊
