There are 7 ways I’ve found to keep YT recommending your videos.
One of them?
Add a fundraiser.
But what if you don’t have that option?

Let’s talk retention.
Specifically: open loops
After analyzing 1,000+ high-performing videos…
I found a PATTERN most creators miss.
The best videos don’t just use open loops.
They use them every 2-4 minutes
Let me say that again:
The best videos RE-OPEN LOOPS or introduce a NEW unanswered question every 2-4 minutes
This has been pivotal for me…
I was used to adding 1 Cliffhanger in the intro.
THAT’S IT.
But now? Only just now I understand the importance of:
Question → Payoff → BLA BLA → Question → Payoff
Rather than:
Question → Payoff → BLA BLA → Payoff → BLA BLA → Payoff
For example…

In a 10-minute video, you need 3-5 significant loops.
Why?
Because attention dips happen, FAST.
BUT here’s what separates good from GREAT:
Layer your loops ↓
→ Macro loop: Opens in first 20 seconds, closes in final 20%
→ Secondary loops: Keep curiosity between sections
→ Micro loops: “But there’s one exception…” (for the unpredictability)
For example:
0:00-0:30 → Big hook (macro loop)
2:00-4:00 → New question
4:00-6:00 → New question
6:00-8:00 → Final open loop before payoff
Final 20% → Big payoff (avoid clickbait, really deliver on the cliffhanger)
