It worked.

16.7% CTR on the first day

Consistent 10 % CTR’s for months 👇

My clickbait video now has 1.2m views.

Was it worth it?

Let me explain…

My clickbait video has:

1) a subscribe ratio of ±0.41% (+4.9K subscribers)

2) a click-through rate of 8.3% (on 11.5M impressions)

3) a clickbait ratio of ±20.2 (8.3 / 0.41)

Whereas my other non-clickbait video has:

1) a subscribe ratio of ±0.43% (+1.3K subscribers)

2) a click-through rate of 5.3% (on 4.1M impressions)

3) a clickbait ratio of ±12.3 (5.3 / 0.43)

Clickbait Ratio = click-through rate / subscribe ratio

​

What does a “clickbait ratio” of 20.2 mean?

For every 20 people who CLICKED, only 1 converted to a subscriber.

I write “clicked”, because your “subscribe ratio” is based on the VIEWS,

Whereas your clickbait ratio is based on IMPRESSIONS.

A high clickbait ratio often means:

• The thumbnail/title is strong (high CTR)
• But the video content doesn’t match what was promised or doesn’t motivate subscribing

​

So then…

Is a clickbait video worth making if it gives you 1m+ views like it did for me?

Well…

Here’s another one of my videos:

1) a subscribe ratio of ±2.31% (+600 subscribers)

2) a click-through rate of 4% (on 487K impressions)

3) a clickbait ratio of ±1.7 (4 / 2.31)

As you can see…

A significantly lower clickbait ratio.

But also much less views…

​

Here’s the thing…

The 3rd video was on a different channel than video 1 & 2.

That channel has SO much more returning viewers.

AND a much higher AVD from those returning viewers.

​

So my answer to the question if a clickbait video is worth it…

…is another question 👇

Did it lift my channel overall (traffic to other videos AND more views on future videos)?

But if you want my simple answer:

I think creating ONE clickbait video that gets 1m+ views is worth it.

The views your channel gets on the videos AFTER the blow up,

Is almost always worth it.

​

And you can create one that still has a comment section full of love,

And a like : dislike ratio that isn’t bad,

Like mine of 94.7% (on clickbait video) VS 95.3% (channel average) 👇
