1) Tease the payoff
The most exciting moment in the first 5 seconds
2) Use pattern interrupts
Unexpected sounds, quick cuts, or surprising statements
3) Create a “knowledge gap”
Hint at information viewers desperately want to know

4) Use the “but first” technique
5) Cut BRUTALLY
Remove every “um,” pause, and unnecessary word
6) Vary your shot types
Close-ups, wide shots, over-shoulder angles
