Take a look at the recent stats on one of my channels…
This video has 18,600 views.
2,454 end screen elements were shown (13.19% of total views)
218 people clicked on the end screen (1.17% of total views)
Which resulted in an end screen CTR of 8.9%.
Based on my own averages across my channels, this is high.
Based on what I’ve heard from other big youtubers, 8.9% is high.
But why does your end screen CTR % matter SO much in the first place?
Let me explain…
There are 3 BIG reasons:
1) Views
In my example, 1.17% of the total viewers clicked on the end screen.
On a 1m views that results in 11,700 extra views.
2) Adsense
In my example, with a $3 RPM, those extra views result in ±$35 extra money in pocket.
I know…not much
But…these are just the DIRECT measurable stats.
Here come the INDIRECT effects…
3) Total Session Watch Time
NOT Average View Duration.
BUT The time someone watches your videos in ONE session (before they leave the app) 👇
When 1.17% watches your 10min video till the end, click on the end screen,
And watches your other 10min video for 50%,
Then your average session watch time = 15 minutes
Instead of 10 minutes.
You won’t just get 11,700 more views from the end screen.
YouTube is more likely to push the INITIAL video,
Because they can shore more ads in your 15 minutes session,
When compared to someone else’s e.g. 10 min session.
Obviously, YouTube will recommend you more when your stats show that more people “BINGE-WATCH” your videos.
So besides more 1% more views and $35 from the 2nd video,
Increasing your End Screen CTA % could be a reason why your 1st video goes viral in the first place.
So even if you currently get 500 views per video,
Why not spend 1 minute per video to create the ripple effect,
That could blow up your channel?
