Let me be real with you…
I’ve been on YouTube since 2012.
1,700,000+ views.
Posted 600+ videos.
12+ different channels.
7,000+ subscribers on one channel.
And I just finished a 6-month experiment:
I uploaded 311 long-form videos across multiple channels.
Here’s what I discovered about the YouTube Algorithm (that no one told me):
The Power of “PRIMING“
Here’s one of the results of the experiment:
I uploaded the (almost) same video on 2 channels:
→ Channel A: 389 subscribers (got 169 views)
→ Channel B: 3 subscribers (got 1,034 views)
You read that right…
A channel with 3 subs CRUSHED a channel with 389 subs.
Your channel isn’t struggling because it’s small. It’s struggling because it’s confused.
How is this possible?
Two words: “Channel Priming“.
The Algorithm CRAVES Clarity…
Let me explain with a simple example.
Imagine 2 restaurants:
Restaurant A’s menu:
– Asian beef
– Dutch sprouts
– German schnitzel
Restaurant B’s menu:
– Chinese dumplings
– Chinese noodles
– Chinese beef
You’re hungry for Chinese food…
Which restaurant would you choose?
The YouTube algorithm works the SAME way.
It’s not that it hates diversity…
It just CRAVES clarity.
Give it what it wants…
And it will give you what you need.
Multiple passions? Create multiple channels.
Stop forcing a buffet when people want a specialty restaurant.
The TRUTH About “You Are The Niche”…
“But what if I want to talk about different things?”
I hear you…
Here’s what most people won’t tell you:
You CAN talk about different topics.
BUT…
You need different channels.
IF you care about more views of the “right people” without additional effort.
Think about it:
Video: “How to read a P&L”→ Channel A: “Bookkeeping for CEO’s”
Video: “How to draft a P&L”→ Channel B: “Quickbooks for Accountants”
Your channel’s menu matters more than its size.
Will it take longer before one channel takes off?
Maybe…
But here’s the thing:
A primed channel with 3 subs can beat an unprimed channel with 389 subs.
I proved it for myself.
I recommend you do the same.
Why does it matter?
Content fades…
Audience stays.
And if you build the WRONG audience…
…you’re building vanity on VANITY.
Because here’s the truth:
You’re probably doing this to:
→ Generate profit
→ Have freedom
→ Not work for a boss
But if you build an audience of silly billys…
…you’ll end up with a LOW conversion/follower ratio %
Building the wrong audience is worse than building NO audience.
Vanity metrics feed your ego. The right metrics feed your family.
This doesn’t matter as much for e.g. Alex Hormozi…
Because he only needs 1 great company PER YEAR to invest in…
In order for it to be “worth it”.
Everyone “believes” Alex Hormozi.
Few are willing to “verify” for themselves.
Here’s the better way for the majority of creators:
Pinpoint profitable content EARLY.
Find what works.
Build for profit, not vanity.
EVEN IF you don’t offer a product yet.
TRUTH > Hope.
Testing builds truth.
Hope builds heartbreak.
Choose. Your foundation. Wisely.
Most creators build an audience of applause. Clever creators build an audience of buyers.
Long story short…
Stop trying to please EVERYONE with one channel.
Start pleasing the RIGHT someone with the RIGHT channel.
