One thing worse than failing is succeeding at the wrong thing.
When I was 23, I did $4,500,000. The wrong thing.
I hired 50+ people. The wrong thing.
7K subs. The wrong thing.
How do you actually make money on YouTube from day one with only a few hundred or thousand followers?
There are many creators that you don’t know that make $10,000/month with only a few hundred followers.
And more than $100,000/month with only a few thousand followers.
Now you probably think that this is impossible for you.
To be honest that’s what I believed when I was less experienced.
But as you know me, I care about truth and effectiveness.
What is the truth?
When it works for others, it can work for you.
You just have to find out how.
The people who say ‘there are no shortcuts’.
And the ones who do…are both usually right.
Just make sure you don’t make the same mistake as me.
Because I went from 0 to 5,000 thousand subscribers in less than 7 months.
You know what I made?
Not even a thousand dollars from it.
Content creators get stuck, burn out, because they prioritize likes > profit.
I’m not the only one.
This is a trap that almost every creator falls for.
What is it exactly?
The Silly Billy timeline:
→ You start creating content perhaps on Instagram, YouTube, LinkedIn, wherever.
→ And then you make more content for months.
→ Your initial intention is profit but your belief is more views = more profit, so you chase virality.
→ Then what happens? You get a viral video if at all.
→ You find out viral videos are not the most effective way to make more profit
→ Most lose motivation, quit, chase another ineffective belief and never really get what they want out of life.
The best life is one with the least amount of compromises.
May you stop wasting time my friend. Life is a precious thing to waste…
Don’t work for freedom. Work from freedom.
PS: Something that looks like a sacrifice to others might not be for you.
You don’t have to sacrifice:
→ Your time
→ Not going on holidays for years
→ Not visiting those places you want to visit
→ Not spending the time with your family or friends
Hard work is for people who romanticize “the grind”
Effective work is for those few rare people who care about “the truth”
The Viral Paradox
The more views you get, the less money you make.
This is true for many creators.
Let me explain.
What happens when you get 1,000,000 views?
Who are those people usually?
Just think about it.
If you visualize what 1 million people look like…What do you see?
I see a lot of silly billies who are broke. More important: unserious.
I’ve found that the more views I get, the more unserious people I reach.
Unserious people may buy a Netflix subscription or energy drink.
But if you don’t sell “mass market consumer products”…
Then don’t try to reach the masses.
You likely did not comprehend the importance of what you just read.
The Right People Thermometer
Don’t just create. Capture. The value lies in filtering ‘intend’ from ‘attention’.
It doesn’t matter where you start.
Every platform can work.
Although there’s one that is most effective.
Struggle is optional. Effectiveness is intentional.
It’s worth figuring out which one.
For me:
- YouTube is the most effective
- Then LinkedIn
- Then Instagram
If you want to know how you can find out for yourself. Check this free guide.
You are only a thousand people away from all the freedom you ever wanted.
But it needs to be the right people.
May you rid yourself of untruth.
I talk more about it here.
Talk soon.
